Program Hands-On IMF

The Information Management Frame has been developed by Peter Alons and Rob Arntz, and is described in the book About Facts and Things. Alongside the method development, the Frame has been given technical substance through model-to-model conversion-algorithms. With these, Meta Data from a correctly filled FOM-repository can be transferred by computer to other environments in the form of logical and physical data structures (ERD's, UML class diagrams, Data Vault, and dimensional structures). This form of tool-support guarantees reliable, effective, and efficient 'single-point-of-definition' metadata management, and that is precisely the aim of the Information Management Frame. The most fitting, fully automated environment in which these algorithms are implemented is i-refactory, the information-delivery platform of i-refact.

As tool for managing all Meta Data that are created in the use of the Information Management Frame method, MetaMorfose has been developed. MetaMorfose contains all the necessary functionalities for delta-wise reading in and documenting data structures and their changes in the pillars for the Corporate Fact base and Enduser Applications in the Information Management Frame, together with the mapping of these structures between all pillars.

The course Hands-On Information Management Frame teaches you the most reliable and successful method to set up and maintain all necessary information structures for a truly effective information-delivery environment. If all is well, these logical information structures are derived straightforwardly by means of fully automated algorithms from a conceptual information model, which is fully validated by knowledge workers in an organization. The course teaches you to apply this true quality pursuing approach for application development in practice.

Peter Alons is a self-employed senior advisor at PAlCon, and has been involved for over 25 years in BI- and DWH-projects at the Dutch Railways, KLM-Air France, Rabobank, ABN-AMRO, Erasmus Medical Center, and Generali insurance group. In these projects he has been active as advisor, method coach, information analyst, and quality-assurance auditor. In collaboration with others he developed the Information Management Frame, and applied it successfully in his projects. He gives presentations, workshops, and lectures on FOM, Information Management, Data Warehousing, and Information Quality Management at various customers and Universities in The Netherlands. He is the author of the book About Facts and Things.

Rob Arntz has been involved for over 15 years in BI- and DWH-projects at ABN-AMRO, Rabobank, the Dutch Council for the Administration of Justice, and Prorail. In these projects he has been active as information analyst, ETL-expert and DWH-consultant. He has been actively involved in developing the Information Management Frame and the application of it. He gives presentations, workshops, and lectures on FOM, Information Management, and Data Warehousing both internally as with customers. He is co-author of the book Fully Communication Oriented Information Modeling, exercises and cases.
